About Poorvam
Poorvam is a research and publishing platform dedicated to the exploration, documentation and dissemination of knowledge across Indian Knowledge Systems, philosophy, literature, culture and the creative arts. Bringing together scholarly research, critical inquiry, literary expression and academic engagement, Poorvam provides an institutional space for knowledge production and exchange.

Why Poorvam?
Poorvam means the East, the direction from which the sun rises. The name evokes the intellectual and cultural landscapes of Prācya, where ideas were not only written down but lived, questioned, performed, remembered and handed from one generation to the next.
Poorvam looks to these inheritances without confining itself to a single horizon. East and West have engaged with one another for centuries through exchange, disagreement and discovery. We seek to take part in that continuing conversation: attentive to the contexts from which knowledge emerges, and open to the questions and encounters that shape the present.
The past is not a place we leave behind. It is something we harvest.
Texts, philosophies, arts, memories and stories that have travelled across generations continue to hold possibilities for inquiry today. Poorvam brings research, publishing, learning and dialogue into a shared institutional space, with the aim of making those possibilities available for further thought.
Poorvam operates under Dhvani Publication, its parent publishing entity. Its journals, magazines, research initiatives and educational programmes retain their distinct identities while participating in the wider Poorvam platform.

It is designed as publicly accessible research infrastructure, with access to individual projects and resources governed by their respective permissions.

Peer-reviewed academic journalPoorvam International Journal of Creative Arts and Cultural Expressions publishes scholarly work across creative arts and cultural expressions. Submissions are handled through the journal’s editorial and peer-review processes.

Different forms of work require different forms of review. We aim to make those standards clear and appropriate to each publication and activity.
Editorial and scholarly review
Academic publications follow the editorial and review procedures established for the respective journal or publication. Not every format on Poorvam is presented as peer-reviewed research.
Research integrity
We value accurate citation, responsible use of sources, originality, transparent authorship and adherence to publication ethics.
Persistent scholarly records
Where applicable, scholarly publications are assigned persistent identifiers, including DOIs, and supported by appropriate digital archiving and discoverability practices.
Academic governance
