Abstract

This article comparatively investigates the structural and semantic features of appositive elements used in literary texts in the English and Uzbek languages. The study analyzes the syntactic structure of appositive elements, their relationship with the main clause, the semantic meanings they convey within the text, and their functional potential in literary discourse. A comparative analysis based on English and Uzbek language materials demonstrates that appositive elements are actively employed in both languages as important communicative and pragmatic devices. The findings reveal that appositive elements in English primarily serve to ensure syntactic compactness and informativeness, whereas in Uzbek they play a significant role in enhancing the expressiveness, imagery, and emotional impact of literary description. The results of the research contribute to the study of apposition from the perspectives of literary text linguistics, comparative linguistics, and linguopragmatics.
