Abstract
Industrial building structures are subject to increased stress (chemical and mechanical impacts, etc.). Therefore, the properties of paint and varnish coatings applied to building surfaces require special attention. When applying paint and varnish materials, it is necessary to strictly adhere to the preparation, application, and drying procedures. Therefore, given the relevance of this topic, the authors conducted research to ensure the operational durability of protective coatings on building structures. They substantiated the selection of paint and varnish materials, examined the adhesion strength, hard-ness, roughness, and electrical characteristics of the paint and varnish coatings depending on the drying method used, and substantiated the choice of drying method. Based on the results of the research, it was determined that the use of acrylic and alkyd enamels in combination with thermoradiation drying allows for the production of uniformly smooth coatings with a minimum number of defects and high adhesion strength.
