Abstract

Background and purpose The present study aims to investigate differences in health-related physical knowledge among collegiate women's hockey players based on playing position. Material and methods  In this cross-sectional analysis of 16 athletes, participants completed an assessment across five domains Cardiorespiratory Endurance, Muscular Strength, Flexibility, Body Composition, and Skill-Related Fitness yielding a maximum total score of 44. Results A one-way ANOVA revealed a statistically significant positional effect on total knowledge scores, F(3, 12) = 4.14, *p* = .031. Post hoc analysis confirmed that goalkeepers (M = 34.00, SD = 2.00) scored significantly lower than both defenders (M = 38.50, SD = 2.41) and midfielders (M = 40.75, SD = 2.75), while no other pairwise comparisons were significant. Conclusions The findings indicate that goalkeepers possess a lower understanding of these health concepts compared to outfield players, suggesting a need for position-specific educational interventions to enhance overall athlete development and performance.
