Abstract

<jats:p>This teaching module, Introduction to Human Resource Information System (HRIS), introduces students to the fundamental concepts and practical applications of information systems in human resource management. It explores how technology supports HR processes, decision-making, and organisational effectiveness in today’s digital work environment. The module covers the foundations of HRM and HRIS, including key concepts, system components, and types of HRIS, before examining their application in core HR functions such as payroll, recruitment, training, attendance, and performance management. It also addresses ethical considerations, data security, and responsible HR data management, alongside emerging trends such as AI, cloud-based systems, and mobile HR technologies. Overall, the module integrates conceptual understanding with practical awareness to prepare students for further studies in HRM and related business disciplines.</jats:p>
