Abstract

Robotic metabolic and bariatric surgery (RMBS) is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used to treat adults and adolescents with morbid obesity or super obesity. The implementation of RMBS represents a significant advance in obesity management, offering beneficial effects that include a reduction in comorbidities and an improvement in quality of life. Since its approval, it has been indicated for multiple procedures, including primary and revisional bariatric surgery. Its importance is paramount in cases where laparoscopic surgery has technological and ergonomic limitations or as a replacement for failed primary laparoscopic bariatric surgery. In complex surgeries, the robot serves as a multidisciplinary tool aimed at breaking the cycle of a sedentary lifestyle.
