Abstract
This work introduces and analyzes a burial of the Dnieper-Prut Babino culture from the barrow of the Kremennaya Balka cemetery, excavated on the left bank of the Lower Dniester in 2023. It is a double burial with two moderately flexed skeletons, lying face to face with their heads facing north. The interred were accompanied by a handmade three-part vessel, a round bone buckle with a large central hole, and five beads compactly arranged within the vessel (a composite bracelet?). One of the beads is made from antler; the other four were made of faience. A comprehensive analysis of the vessel’s contents allowed us to reconstruct the burial food left for the deceased. Most likely, the vessel contained porridge made from wild grains or millet, cooked in milk (or butter) and sweetened with honey. The radiocarbon date of the burial, obtained from the wood of the ceiling, falls within the range of the mid-21st to early 19th centuries BC. This dating of the grave is consistent with the presumed chronological position of the ceramic vessel and the bone buckle discovered within it.
