Abstract

From a synchronic perspective, the reduplication of the object through the use of a short pronoun form is considered a Balkanism of Latin-Roman origin. Within the Bul-garian pronominal system, reduplication is a common phenomenon in which a pronoun is duplicated by a clitic. Some researchers argue that this type of reduplication was the first to appear in Bulgarian, suggesting that object doubling originated within the pronominal system and subsequently spread to nouns. The present study focuses on the distinctive features of these constructions, including their syntactic position within the sentence, their interaction with certain grammatical categories, and potential usage restrictions.
