Abstract
This paper presents a detailed analysis of data from the 1921 population census of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes, with particular reference to the region of Southern Serbia and the Vranje District. Employing a quantitative methodology and drawing upon original archival sources, the study examines the population structure by sex and age groups. Special emphasis is placed on the demographic consequences of World War I, as well as on the social, economic, and migratory factors that shaped the postwar demographic landscape. The aim of the paper is to contribute to a contemporary understanding of population dynamics in the first half of the twentieth century through a multidisciplinary approach.
