Abstract
<jats:p>This article provides a practical guide for qualitative researchers on using ChatGPT as a research assistant within the R2D2/C3PO instructional design framework. It demonstrates the practical application of ChatGPT to assist teachers, instructional designers, and content experts in selecting appropriate instructional strategies and learning activities for diverse audiences. ChatGPT enhances qualitative data analysis by streamlining coding, generating insights, and improving data synthesis. The article highlights the strengths of ChatGPT, such as efficient data processing and coherent summary generation, while also addressing its weaknesses, including potential falsehoods, biases, and limited contextual understanding. By combining human expertise with AI tools, the article emphasizes achieving reliable and nuanced qualitative research outcomes.</jats:p>
