Abstract
This chapter examines how predictive artificial intelligence can support human resource allocation in the industrial sector. The study employed semi-structured interviews and data was subject to thematic content analysis. Findings indicate that managers recognize the value of anticipating workforce needs but typically allocate reactively and rely on intuition. Predictive AI is viewed as useful for forecasting demand and mitigating absenteeism, provided it functions as decision support rather than an automated decision-maker. The chapter presents a practice-informed set of technical and human criteria for workforce allocation (e.g., skills, availability, motivation, person–task compatibility) and outlines adoption strategies that strike a balance between algorithmic precision and contextual interpretation, governance, and ethical considerations.
