Abstract
The chapter analyses maternity tourism as intentional cross-border childbirth driven by citizenship, perceived healthcare quality, and structural inequalities. It synthesises evidence on maternal and neonatal outcomes, showing generally favourable indicators but elevated risks from high Caesarean rates, travel, and fragmented care (Lim et al., 2020; Yılmaz & Ekim, 2025). It highlights risk factors (e.g., pre-eclampsia, PROM), NICU utilisation patterns, and ethical tensions between resource protection and human rights (Jafarpour et al., 2025; Shahvisi & Finnerty, 2019). The chapter concludes with policy recommendations on regulated agencies, migrant-sensitive care, and cross-border data cooperation
