Abstract
<jats:p>This chapter explores how Manufacturing 4.0 and emerging technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Blockchain, and the Internet of Things (IoT), are transforming quality management systems in anticipation of the upcoming revision of the ISO 9001:2026 standard. These digital tools are enabling the development of intelligent processes, connected supply chains, and organizational structures that are more resilient, agile, and sustainable. AI is portrayed as the driving force behind “Smart Quality”, capable of predicting failures, enhancing decision-making, and enriching the customer experience. Blockchain is highlighted as a foundation for traceability and decentralized trust, while IoT facilitates large-scale, real-time data collection to support continuous improvement initiatives. Importantly, the chapter emphasizes that these technologies do not replace human involvement; rather, they enhance and empower human roles within the digital production ecosystem.</jats:p>
