Abstract
<jats:p>The purpose of the study is to provide a brief overview of the research of scientists from various fields of natural science in the field of natural history since the 18th century in Russia, and to describe the contribution of scientists from the Omsk region in the 20th and 21st centuries to the formation and development of natural history in the Omsk Irtysh region. The sources containing information on the history of the development of natural history in Russia since the 18th century are analyzed, and the contribution of researchers in various fields of natural science knowledge over the course of four centuries is described. Despite the active use of the concept of "natural history" in the educational, pedagogical and scientific literature of local lore, natural history is currently referred to as the natural science field of local lore in general. Natural history is the field of local history in the field of fundamental and applied natural sciences: biology, population and agricultural ecology, geography, geology, hydrology, etc. Geographical and biological directions are closely interrelated in natural history. Natural science anthropological local history is related to humanitarian ethnographic local history, which, in turn, is interconnected with historical, etc. Currently, natural science local history exists in full along with the humanitarian fields of local history. For centuries, researchers from the Omsk Irtysh region have made a significant contribution to the formation and development of Russian natural history. Scientists monitor natural ecosystems in various fields of natural science knowledge, and actively participate in local history activities.</jats:p>
