Abstract
<jats:p>The article analyzes bibliographic indexes of Ukrainian periodicals. A selective review of publications is carried out. Special attention is paid to state retrospective bibliographic guides, catalogs of magazines and newspapers, and historical and bibliographic studies. Bibliographic indexes of various fields of knowledge, regional publications, and Ukrainian emigration press are examined, and their subject matter and content are outlined. The historiography and issues of the specific genre of the bibliographic guide are highlighted, a historical and bibliographic generalization is made, and the role and place of journal indexes as an important source base for Ukrainian studies are determined. The role and place of bibliographic indexes of Ukrainian periodicals as an important component of the national bibliography of Ukraine is determined.</jats:p>
