Abstract

<jats:p>The article examines the peculiarities of the development of the economy of the metallurgical industry of Ukraine as one of the main drivers of the positive dynamics of the national economy. The prerequisites for the transformation of the national economy, the transition from the dominance of agricultural production to the industrial structure of the economy are determined. The role of geographical, natural, climatic, and raw material factors in the social division of labor is revealed. Their significance in the formation of the traditional specificity of the national economy, its orientation to certain markets and production sectors is shown. The historical coordinates of the development of the national economy are analyzed in accordance with the interaction within the dyad of internal-external markets. The principles, problems, and prospects for the development of the industrial economy under logistical constraints are studied. The role of transport infrastructure in ensuring the competitiveness of domestic metallurgical industry products is determined. The dominance of external trade partners in the structure of end consumers of Ukrainian metallurgical products is shown. The challenges facing the economy of the metallurgical industry of Ukraine in the context of the foreign trade crisis in the global dimension are identified and justified. Special attention is paid to the problems of blocking transport corridors for the supply of metallurgical industry products in conditions of large-scale aggression. It is shown that overcoming the foreign trade crisis for the metallurgical industry economy involves the forced modernization of the road network. It is determined that palliative measures to improve the capacity of the road network can ensure the transition of the metallurgical industry economy to a growth trajectory only in the short term. It is proven that the scenario implementation of long-term growth requires the application of a strategy of forced modernization of the transport infrastructure, the implementation of frontal renovation measures and the comprehensive development of the road network.</jats:p>
