<jats:p>This review presents analysis of the monograph on the history of pharmaceutical market in Russia. The study meet a historiography lack minutely exploring the becoming of pharmaceutical market in Russia at the turn of the XX–XXI centuries from collapse of the Soviet system up to establishment of new industry. The authors, applying interdisciplinary approach and unique source base that included dozens of interviews with key insiders, analyze not only the formal institutional development but also the informal institutions that formed industry in the period of “drug famine” of the 1990s.</jats:p>
