Abstract

The research focuses on the processes of development and functioning of multimedia web-based information systems (MWIS) under conditions of increasing volumes of multimedia data and growing complexity of user information activities. The goal is to improve theoretical and methodological approaches to MWIS design by formulating a generalized definition, developing an adaptive model, and classifying systems based on usage regularity. The tasks include analyzing existing approaches to defining MWIS; to substantiate a generalized definition of this class of systems; to develop a structural and functional model of an adaptive MWIS; to formalize adaptation and personalization processes; and to propose a classification of MWIS based on the regularity of their use. The research methodology includes system analysis, the generalization of scientific approaches, and structural and functional modeling methods, in particular the IDEF methodology. The following results were obtained: an analysis of scientific approaches to the interpretation of multimedia web-based information systems was performed, and the necessity of forming a generalized definition was substantiated. MWIS are defined as a class of information systems that operate in a network environment, integrate multimedia content, and provide personalized interactive user interaction with information. A conceptual structural and functional model of an adaptive MWIS has been developed, combining a domain information model, a user model, an adaptive interface, and a dynamic adaptation mechanism. The model considers the user profile, behavioral characteristics, and interaction results, enabling personalized content delivery in both educational and commercial systems. Using the IDEF methodology, adaptation processes and relationships between system components were formalized. A classification of MWIS based on usage regularity is proposed, including regularly used, situational, periodic, and randomly used systems. Conclusions. The scientific novelty of the obtained results is as follows: 1) a structural and functional model of an adaptive multimedia web-based information system (MWIS) has been proposed, which incorporates the user profile, behavioral characteristics, and interaction results to enable dynamic content adaptation; furthermore, the methods for formalizing the processes of adaptation and personalization of multimedia content based on the IDEF methodology have been further developed 2) the definition of MWIS has been refined, and a classification of MWIS based on the regularity of their use has been proposed, which enhances the efficiency of their design and operation.
