Abstract

Medicinal plants are boundless source of raw materials for the pharmaceutical. Chicory (Cichorium intybus L.) is a perennial plant of the Asteraceae family, widely used in traditional medicine and food industry. In recent years, interest in its main properties has been growing due to the spread of biological methods such as inulin, phenolic components, flavonoids and vitamins. Chicory is known for its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. These qualities make it a promising product for the creation of natural resources, as well as providing food products. This study presents the results of quantitative and qualitative analysis of the underground part of C. intybus L., both imported from China and cultivated in Kazakhstan. In addition, the paper presents the data of chromatographic analysis of the underground part of the plant from abroad and locally grown, performed using the method of gas chromatography with mass spectrometric detection (GC-MS). Based on the conducted analyses, it can be concluded that the plant has high potential for the development of new drugs and biologically active additives. This study of the C. intybus L. plant continues to do in-depth research on the chemical composition and biologically active substances parts.
