Abstract

<jats:p>The printed colored gauze of the Western Han Dynasty, unearthed from the Mawangdui site, represents a significant cultural heritage with unique patterns and painting techniques. This paper explores the integration of these traditional elements into contemporary women’s fashion as a means of sustainable design innovation. Through a systematic analysis of the artifacts, we extract artistic forms and apply human factors engineering research methods to women’s clothing and accessories. The study aims to new pathways for the inheritance and innovation of traditional Chinese clothing, aligning with sustainable fashion practices by reducing waste and promoting cultural preservation. The application of these patterns in modern design is verified through a ’human factors research selection method, ensuring the cultural innovation is relevant to contemporary consumer aesthetics and sustainable fashion needs.</jats:p>
