Abstract
Abstract
Ceramic-matrix composites (CMCs) typically have higher damage tolerance than monolithic ceramics, while also being able to withstand high temperatures. This article discusses different manufacturing methods and highlights the advantages and disadvantages of each method as it relates to the ease of processing and the performance of the resulting CMC. It focuses primarily on continuous fiber-reinforced CMCs rather than chopped fiber or whisker reinforcements. The article also explains matrix processing methods in detail.
