Abstract
<jats:p>The purpose of the study is to develop an algorithm for working with iconographic documents in French when teaching foreign-language oral monologue to schoolchildren at the stage of basic general education. The article presents the characteristics of such documents and their classification, which defines the differences between isographic and audiovisual materials. The scientific novelty of the study is to clarify the linguistic and didactic aspects of iconographic materials in relation to teaching monologue in French. The step-by-step algorithm of actions is accompanied by methodological recommendations for teachers on working with iconographic documents when teaching students oral French-language monologue. As a result of the research, it was found that properly organized systematic work with iconographic documents will help to remove the difficulties that students may encounter when working with such materials, which are a significant source of information for modern schoolchildren.</jats:p>
