Abstract

The aim of the study is to develop a system of classification criteria for the author’s doll as an art object or a toy in the context of modern art. The article examines the issue of identifying the author’s doll as a phenomenon existing on the boundary between art and a toy. The evolution of the doll from a ritual object to a modern art object is investigated, and the criteria for differentiating the author’s doll as a work of art and as a toy are analyzed. Special attention is paid to the dual nature of the author’s doll, its aesthetic and functional value. Current trends in the development of doll art are examined, including digital technologies and virtual art objects. The scientific novelty lies in identifying specific features that allow attributing the author’s doll to the sphere of contemporary art, despite its utilitarian origin, as well as in proposing a classification model for expert evaluation. As a result of the study, classification criteria are proposed that allow determining the status of the author’s doll in the context of modern art.
