Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify the role of military experience in the formation of the creative individuality of I. T. Bogdesko (1923-2010), People’s Artist of the USSR and Academician of the USSR Academy of Arts. The article offers an understanding of this experience as a factor in the formation of individual artistic thinking, particularly significant in the context of the study of 20th-century Russian art, where the theme of war occupies a central place. The scientific novelty lies in reconstructing key stages of I. T. Bogdesko’s wartime biography and identifying reflections of his wartime experiences in the artist’s post-war book illustrations, easel paintings, and monumental works. As a result, the conducted research indicates that I. T. Bogdesko’s military experience served not only as a biographical milestone, but also as a determining factor in the formation of his artistic worldview and creative method.
