Mount Athos as the Holy Mountain: Between <i>Ekphrasis</i> and Patriographic Literature

<jats:p> The article is devoted to the definition of Athos as the 'Holy Mountain': on the one hand, its history and the tradition of the encomium and the <jats:italic>ekphrasis</jats:italic> , and on the other, the tradition of patriography, as recorded in hagiography and later in collections such as the Patria of Mount Athos. </jats:p>
