Abstract
It appears that all fundamental international principles of gender equality have been reflected, to one degree or another, in the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan 'On Guarantees of Gender (Men and Women) Equality.' However, as paradoxical as it may sound, this does not provide sufficient grounds for a categorical conclusion that this Law fully complies with current international standards of gender equality. Our assertion regarding the incomplete compliance of the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan 'On Guarantees of Gender (Men and Women) Equality' with current international standards in this field is derived from the indicators of the Gender Inequality Index (GII), determined annually within the framework of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), as well as other similar metrics, such as the Global Gender Gap Index calculated by the World Economic Forum
