Abstract
<jats:p>The article analyzes the impact of changes in the interest rate environment on the performance of the Russian banking sector. It explores the relationship between the dynamics of inflation, the key interest rate, the interest rates on loans and deposits, and the manifestation of interest rate risk. According to the study results, the main factors significantly influencing the manifestation of interest rate risk in the activities of Russian banks include the interest rate policy of the Bank of Russia and commercial banks, inflation, volatility of the national currency exchange rate, and the asymmetry of interest rate policy goals at the macro- and microlevels. The article outlines the main methods for managing the interest rate risk in commercial banks and concludes that there is a need for the comprehensive improvement of interest rate risk management methods both at the level of the Bank of Russia and at the level of commercial banks.</jats:p>
