Abstract

Microfluidic devices are finding widespread applications in automated remote analytics due to their rapid and precise handling of small volumes of fluids at microscale dimensions. These compact systems integrate sample preparation, chemical or biological analysis, and data transmission, enabling real-time monitoring in remote, on site, and resource-limited environments. Their advantages include low reagent consumption, fast response times, portability, and compatibility with wireless technologies. Microfluidic devices are used in healthcare diagnostics, environmental monitoring, and food safety sensing, to name a few. Recent advancements in microfabrication, biosensor integration, and Artificial Intelligence-assisted data interpretation have significantly enhanced the performance and reliability of these systems. By minimizing the need for manual intervention and centralized laboratories, microfluidic platforms facilitate decentralized analysis and continuous monitoring, making them a promising solution for various field-deployable analytical tasks.
