Abstract

For the first time, the monograph provides a systematic study of the little-studied, but still relevant concepts of Russian scientists concerning the development of the theory of money. Major formation stages have been identified, within the framework of which economic and legal changes took place in the economic life and monetary system of Russia in the XVII — early XX century. The contribution of Russian economists and representatives of the Ministry of Finance to the reform programs of the Russian monetary system in 1839-1843 and 1895-1897 is shown. The analysis of the works of famous Russian economists helps the author to reveal the nature of economic instability and industrial crises, a significant contribution to the study of which was made by representatives of Russian science. The periods of "aggravation" of the currency confrontation and the formation of a new monetary and financial "map" of the world during the development of the military economy in 1914-1917 are highlighted. A retrospective analysis of the fundamental provisions of the theories of money and industrial crises helps to understand how shifts in the modern monetary system affect changes in the theories of money. The book is of interest to teachers of economic theory, the history of economic doctrines, financiers, historians, students and a wide range of readers interested in the history of economic doctrines and the development of theories of money in Russia.
