Abstract
<jats:p>The monograph examines the origin and development of the idea of socio-legal progress of mankind, analyzes the main theories of progress: linear and cyclical. Special attention is paid to the study of the causes of the crisis of ideas, as well as ways to overcome it. One of the chapters of the work (the sixth) is devoted to the problem of Russia's legal future and its civilizational choice. The author expresses his ideas about the directions in which the legal development of the country is possible. For students, postgraduates, teachers of law schools and faculties, the book may also be of interest to sociologists, philosophers, historians, and all those who care about the social future of humanity.</jats:p>
