Abstract

Abstract
In this chapter we analyze data collected by means of surveys on the formative processes for psychologists in the city of Poços de Caldas and the state of Minas Gerais. We worked with mixed methods, utilizing an online survey and eight semi-structured interviews with psychologists in the region. This analysis of the basic education process seeks to ascertain how the interviewees evaluate and understand their academic training and the experiences that stem from this training. The interviewees considered a balanced relationship between theory and practice to be important in their education. Within this context, and within the perspective of the educational process, there was a linearity in the interviewees’ opinions, underlining the importance of an education that places them in contact with professional practice, by means of curricular and extracurricular internships, and through involvement in social projects, highlighting thus the importance of a theory aligned with professional practice.
