Abstract
Abstract
This chapter focuses on themes such as letting go, kenosis, traveling lightly, and the delicate role of grieving. Possibility is either missed, refused, denied, or embraced depending on our willingness to release what is holding us back. To understand this more deeply, it is beneficial to create your own “field notes”—a record of what is happening around you and what you are thinking and feeling about these events. The chapter emphasizes that “releasing” involves more than simply letting go of things or attachments to others. Middle to late adulthood is a particularly important period where we must be willing to change the limited memory or narrative we have of ourselves. It is also a chance to grieve in a way that opens us up to the next phase of our lives.
