Abstract

Abstract
This book argues that Donald Trump’s 2024 re-election represents the peak of a movement that began long before Trump and will endure beyond his career. The book shows how the American Right transforms as activists and organizations, fueled by soft money, dismantle free-market conservatism and advance a populist agenda rooted in cultural and social battles. It explains that these new rights harness social media to mobilize support around issues such as abortion, gender, critical race theory, book bans, immigration, and the “deep state.” The book demonstrates how the movement builds a durable political base designed not only to win elections but to reshape the rules of governance. Finally, it contends that the idea factory drives polarization, overturns long-standing norms, and poses profound challenges for the future of American democracy.
