Abstract

Abstract
Racial literacies are demonstrated by questioning Critical Theory and Literacy in the 21st century relative to, for example, the biosphere, history, religion, language, race, and schooling. This approach responds to the challenges discussed by Comber specifically “critical theory [as] exclusive and abstract” as well as the need for “critical approaches to multiliteracies [to] invent new frames, vocabularies, and pedagogies” in the 21st century. Race‐critical review shows Critical Theory and Literacy are uncritical fields when race as situated, ongoing human practice is not accounted for and acted upon to advance living and learning on planet Earth or other human worlds.
